Essex village's fete makes comeback after 14 years

A VILLAGE fete is making an amazing comeback after nearly 14 years in the wilderness.
Stebbing will this weekend be full of colour and life after the Stebbing Society put on an organising hat and announced that the fete will return.
Spokesman Ernest Howard said: "We used to have a much bigger fair every four years but that outgrew itself and since then nobody has really bothered to put a function on - after a gap of 14 years we're holding the fete once more."
The fete is being held at Mill Lane Playing Field on Sunday (September 27), starting at 2pm.An art show, including children's art, which is open Saturday and Sunday from 11am in the Friends Meeting House in the High Street will also take place.

Admission to all the events is free, as is parking, and the fete will be opened by Dunmow's town crier, Richard Harris, who will also judge a children's harvest hats competition.
Look out for a raffle for four corporate tickets to a West Ham home game at Upton Park, and a tasty barbeque. There will also be displays by Stebbing Judo Club and The Dunmow Majorettes.

All of the money collected on the day will be donated to aid village clubs and organisations.
