THE Helena Romanes School has been busy raising money for charity in memory of a student.
Abigail Chen-Rumbold died in July 2008 and a sponsored walk was organised by the school's students to raise cash for the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT).
The course was three miles across country and prizes were presented to the student in each year group who raised the most money. The winner of the race was Year 12 pupil Richard Pollitt.
A school spokesman said: "The whole school was involved - students and staff - either running, walking or behind the scenes. It was a tremendous day which has raised a large amount for the Teenage Cancer Trust and the Student Voice."
Dunmow's mayor, Cllr Gywnn Davies, and Abigail's parents attended the event and showed their support by cheering on the participants.
The students were allowed to wear non-school uniform for a �1 fee and some students and teachers were in fancy dress.
Half of the money raised will be used around the school, the remainder donated to the TCT.
