A TEAM of year nine Dunmow students narrowly missed out on a place at the regional finals of the Rotary Youth Speaks competition.

Helena Romanes School’s intermediate team presented their exploration of ‘normality’ to an audience at Bishop’s Stortford College last Thursday. The team performed well but were unfortunate to miss out on progression to the next round.

Maria Yamamoto of Bishop’s Stortford Rotary Club – who hosted the event – said: “Helena Romanes team did a very nice job presenting their topic ‘What is Normal’. Overall, it was a very strong pool of participants. Very high quality presentations were delivered throughout the evening.”

The winning team was from Bishop’s Stortford College with their topic ‘Airbrushing the Truth’.

Aaron Deary, a teacher at Helena Romanes, said that the event was thoroughly enjoyed by all and that they look forward to competing again next year.
