Great Dunmow Primary School has been awarded the Sainsbury’s School Games Mark in a Government led awards scheme which reward schools for their commitment to the development of PE, sport and competition.

The school was assessed on criteria including a commitment to two hours of physical education a week, taking part in competitions both within and outside school, leadership schemes and extra-curricular clubs.

Pictured are teacher Louise Smith, the PE leader with year six sports ambassadors, Ethan Gray and Sadie Frater-White. The school has sports ambassadors for each class who give feedback on sports provision across the school. They are often high performers.So Sadie is to take part in the Essex Cross County finals after finishing first in the Uttlesford heats and Ethan represents the school in rugby and football.

Louise Smith, PE leader said: “We are very proud of our award and look forward to another great year full of sport. We have worked very hard in developing the provision of sport in the curriculum and beyond and all of us arevery pleased to have this recognised.”
