Children at Finchingfield Primary School prepared for Easter with an egg painting competition.
The eggs were brought back from the Ukraine and donated to the school by UK-Aid, a the charity that began life as Felsted Aid and delivers humanitarian aid to children in the Ukraine still suffering from the effects of the Chernobyl disaster in 1986.
The plain wooden eggs were spotted in a market in Ukraine by Charles Lee, who was a co-driver on the charity’s convoy to the Ukraine in February.
Mr Lee, former Felsted School head of drama, is currently helping the primary school develop their website and has created a link between the charity and the school, and decided to bring the toys back for the Finchingfield youngsters.
Headteacher Lisa Feldman said: “We want our children to learn about how we can help underprivileged children from other countries, and I am delighted to support the wonderful work done by UK-AID.”
