Essex Police: 63-year-old man injured in Braintree

POLICE are appealing for information after a pedestrian was knocked down by a pedal cyclist in Braintree.

It happened at around 9pm on Friday, September 23, on a footpath between St John’s Avenue and Rifle Hill.

The 63-year-old male pedestrian, from Braintree, was knocked to the ground as a result of the collision. He was taken by ambulance to Chelmsford’s Broomfield Hospital and was later transferred to Queen’s Hospital in Romford where he is receiving treatment for a serious neck injury.

The cyclist is believed to be a teenage boy who may have been wearing a white hooded top. Officers are aware there may have been other people in the area at the time and want to hear from them.
