Insp Tyler said: "I know Braintree very well, having worked in the area for more than a decade, and my priority is to ensure that it remains a safe and enjoyable place to live, work or visit."

Insp Tyler has worked for Essex Police for 21 years, in a variety of roles which include a spell as custody sergeant in Braintree police station and six years working as a road traffic sergeant in the Braintree area.

He has spent the past four-and-a-half years as an inspector responding to critical incidents across Central division, which comprises the districts of Braintree, Chelmsford, Maldon and Uttlesford.
