A MAN arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving following a fatal accident has been released on bail.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the crash on Main Road, in Ford End, Chelmsford, at 9am yesterday, in which the cyclist was killed.

The collision, involving a Vauxhall Corsa, happened on the Colchester bound carriageway near to the B1417 junction for Felsted.

A police spokeswoman said that a male cyclist had died and officers were still to inform his next of kin.

She said that the driver of the Corsa, an 18-year-old man from the Great Dunmow area, had been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving.

He has since been released and bailed until Tuesday.

Anyone who may have seen the crash is asked to contact Chelmsford Road Policing Unit on 0300 333 4444.
