A SECTION of the M11 motorway in Essex is to be closed later this month in order for essential bridge inspections to take place.

It is expected that the Highways Agency will carry out works at junction eight (Stansted Airport and Bishop's Stortford) on or after September 29 with closures lasting for approximately two nights (10pm-5am).

The work will close the M11 northbound and southbound carriageways between their junctions with the entry and exit slip roads leading to and from the A120 Birchanger Green roundabout at junction eight, including the link roads leading from the M11 northbound to A120 eastbound and the A120 northbound to M11 southbound.

Traffic wishing to enter or exit the motorway via the A120 Priory Wood roundabout and junction eight will be diverted, with diversion routes clearly signed throughout the works.
