FIREFIGHTERS have been called to a Thatched cottage in Chapel End, Broxted this morning (Monday) following reports of a chimney fire.
At around 10.30am three crews from Dunmow, Stansted and Newport arrived at the cottage to extinguish the minor blaze using specialist equipment including a water back pack.
One eyewitness told The Broadcast: "I was walking to the local shop to collect some things after arriving back from holiday and also to catch up on all the village gossip.
"When I came around the corner I saw three fire engines outside one of the cottages. It didn't look too bad though and I think there was only minor damage to the outside of the house.
