A FAMILY were forced to flee their home after a fire broke out in the living room during the early hours of Monday morning.

The blaze, at a house in Garnetts, Takeley, needed the attention of three fire crews from Great Dunmow and Takeley, who battled for over half an hour to bring the situation under control.

The family had managed to escape before firefighters arrived at around 4am.

A joint fire and police investigation is underway to establish the cause of the fire.
