SEVEN country parks in Essex have received the Green Flag Award.

The green flag award scheme recognises and rewards the best green spaces in the country and Essex Country Parks was awarded the status after maintaining a very high standard throughout the parks.

Belhus Woods, Cudmore, Danbury, Hadleigh, Great Notley, Thorndon and Weald all provide a variety of outdoor activities, entertainment and events throughout the year. Each park will now fly the Green Flag, showcasing their status.

Essex County Council’s cabinet member for environment and waste, Cllr Tracey Chapman, said: “Receiving seven Green Flag Awards is a great achievement, highlighting the very high standard of our country parks.

“With news of this achievement, I welcome families and friends to come down, bring a picnic and enjoy the picture-perfect surroundings of our country parks.”
