DUNMOW St Mary's Primary School went one better than last year in the Uttlesford School Sports Partnership by scoring a clean sweep.

DUNMOW St Mary’s Primary School went one better than last year in the Uttlesford School Sports Partnership by scoring a clean sweep.

Competing against a host of other primary schools in the area in the partnership – a series of sporting activities held at the Helena Romanes School – the school’s sporting prowess came to the fore.

Last year, it won the overall boys’ title; this year, as well as winning that title again, the school also claimed the trophy in the overall girls’ category, and another for gaining the most points overall.

PE co-ordinator at the school, Ryan Kendall, said: “The school is very proud of its students. They gave maximum effort and worked so hard in practice, and it was good to go one better than last year by winning the three trophies.”

Earlier in the year St Mary’s was selected by the partnership to attend the county sports hall finals held in Southend, where they finished a highly creditable third.

“We have always been strong in sport, but particularly in athletics,” added Mr Kendall.

“The children are particularly good in the relays and that shows the strong team work and support that they provide for each other. They are determined to do well and, as as a result of their practice and listening skills, they have done really well once again.”
