THERE'S plenty of Easter Egg-citement available in the area this holiday time:

*FROM Good Friday to Easter Monday (April 2-5) Blake House Craft Centre is celebrating with competitions for children all weekend.

The centre will open its doors at 10am each day and continue throughout the day with Easter fun including egg painting, face painting and an Easter egg hunt around the centre.

All the usual shops will be open and full of Easter gifts and ideas, as well as some new shops for 2010, plus additional side stalls and tombola.

*LOOKING for a fun activity for all the family during the Easter holidays? Why not Spot the Bunny.

Take part in Ashdon's Easter Bunny Hunt in aid of Ashdon Pre-School.

Find all 25 Easter Bunnies hidden around the houses and notice boards of Ashdon and solve their clues. Entrance forms are available from Ashdon village shop for �1. All entrants will receive a certificate, with a �30 Humphreys' Meat voucher first prize adult entrant and a chocolatey surprise first prize child entrant.

*HATFIELD Forest is hosting an Easter egg trail on Saturday April 3, and there will also be face painting and entry to the design your own egg-head competition available.

Hatfield will also be receiving a visit from Trusty the Hedgehog - the National Trusts mascot - from Tuesday April 6 until Thursday April 15.

*SAFFRON Walden Museum will be hosting drop-in activities, celebrating the Year of the Tiger, on Wednesday April 7. The drop-in activities will include Chinese craft activities for families.

*VISITORS to Saffron Walden County High School Farm Club will get the chance to see the animals and any new born lambs on Saturday April 3 from 2-4pm.

*CLAVERING Art and Craft Show will be taking place from April 3-5 in the village hall. Entry for adults is �2, children free. For more information contact 01799 550425

*A CRAFT fair in aid of Essex Air Ambulance is happening at Clarence House, Thaxted from April 3-5. Entry is free and will feature genuine crafts and home-made refreshments. For further details contact 01371 830783.

*THE tourism volunteers at Community Information Centre - at 7 Town Street - will be open as usual on Easter weekend (April 3-5) but will also be holding an exhibition of prints and greetings cards by Megan Ridgewell showing Thaxted and the surrounding area.

*OPENING for Easter and new for 2010 at the Mountfitchet Castle Complex in Stansted is the Haunted Manor where visitors are guaranteed to be scared out of their wits as they come face to face with ghosts that once inhabited the Manor House.

The Haunted Manor is spookily located within the Toy Museum which is part of the complex. All three attractions cater for every taste for all the family and all for one admission price.
