SELL-OUT audiences and standing ovations greeted pupils from a school in Dunmow as they performed their own version of the hit musical We Will Rock You in front of proud parents and teachers.
During a three-night run, more than 600 guests packed into the Helena Romanes School hall to witness one of the establishment's most rousing successes in recent times.
The school's head of music, Karen Brown, said: "It was fantastic - the pupils had been working hard on the show for well over six months after we had cast for the main parts in June. They have been rehearsing once a week from July and then more intensively in the weeks leading up to the first night.
"Every night was a complete sell-out and the audience gave the performers a standing ovation at the end of each show. As head of music I have helped them to rehearse and perfect the show so, for me, it was a really proud moment to see them getting what they deserved."
Based on music by the band Queen, the original show was written for the West End by Ben Elton, in collaboration with the bands lead guitarist Brian May.
So it needed the help of over 100 pupils to take part in getting their own version of the show on the road, from singers and dancers to backstage crew and scenery designers.
Mrs Brown added: "It was a real team effort and everyone played their part in the success of the production. Pupils in Year 8 worked with pupils aged up to 18 studying for their A-levels - everyone had the opportunity to join in. I would like to thank all of the public who came along to show their support, and I hope they all enjoyed it as much as we did."
