The school held a Book at Bedtime evening on January 14, where parents and pupils could read books together and listen to stories, all in the comfort of their favourite pyjamas.

Families returned after the school day to find the two school halls transformed, one into a reading space with cushions, beanbags and a puppet theatre and another holding a pop-up bookshop as well as refreshments.

A school spokesman said: “We were absolutely delighted that more than 100 children attended the event. The cosy informal setting created a relaxed atmosphere in which the children could really enjoy the stories being read to them and provided further opportunities for them to read with their teachers and friends.

“We intend to repeat the event at the beginning of the summer term.”
