Dunmow Rotary Club will donate a further £1,000 to communities battling the effects of cyclone Idai, which spread devastation in Malawi, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
The club has already contributed a shelter box, which costs more than £500.
Shelter boxes contain tools which help families rebuild their homes as well as a tent, blankets, cooking utensils, a water container and purification kit.
In addition to this, president Peter Childs announced the club’s agreement to donate a further £1,000 to the Cyclone Idai Appeal, a charity administered by Rotary GB and Ireland which collates donations and makes grants to projects which are working to rebuild communities in the long term.
Rotary club member David Beedle said: “This has all been made possible by the residents of Dunmow, Takeley and Canfield supporting Rotary events, for which we thank you all.”
