Gymnasts from Great Dunmow Primary school took home gold after a ‘unrecognisable’ performance at British Schools Gymnastics Association Floor and Vault competition Plate Final on Wednesday (March 8) at Jerounds Primary School in Harlow.
The judge was wowed by the progress the girls had made, describing them as unrecognisable as the team he had seen in November.
Alice Holman, a member of the team, said: “I was happy because this was the last time that we would be able to represent the school before we left Great Dunmow Primary School and I was so pleased that we won. It was a good feeling because it wasn’t just about me, it was a whole team performance as we had represented the school.”
The competition was tough but the girls’ team managed to take home gold with a margin of 1.4 marks.
Helen Wicks, chief coach, said: “I am immensely proud of the girls who took part. Their attitude was so professional and their progress this year has been immense. They fully deserved the victory.”
