A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing in Bishop's Stortford.

Police were called to Grange Road at 1.06am today (Thursday) following reports there had been an altercation between a group of people.

When officers arrived at the scene they found a man with a stab wound and two other men with injuries. The two men were taken to hospital for treatment where one remains in a critical condition at this time.

A 20-year-old man from Bishop's Stortford has been arrested on suspicion of affray. A 24-year-old from Little Dunmow has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. An 18-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of affray.

Paul Burnage, Neighbourhood Inspector for Bishop's Stortford, said: "It appears to be between a group who were known to each other and we are trying to establish the exact circumstances which led to this incident.

"I would like to reassure local residents that Bishop's Stortford remains a safe place and they can carry on with their lives as normal."
