DUNMOW fire station is to get funding for 28 new wholetime, front line posts.
The Stortford Road facility currently has firefighters serving two retained crewed appliances.
Under the new proposals by Essex County Fire and Rescue Service – which is looking to make 10m cuts – Dunmow will get enough new firefighters to man one full time applicance and one retained crewed appliance. That will see 28 wholetime posts introduced, sourced from other changes being made under the review.
The move, says the service, is designed to ‘provide strengthened cover to support the growth of the area, in particular Stansted Airport’.
