THE DUNMOW carnival procession committee has handed over money to two charities.

Procession committee chairman Keith Wheatcroft and town mayor Ron Clover handed over two cheques of 500 to the Little Goslings Centre and The Dunmow Flitch Friendship Club which were supported by the street collection at the carnival on September 17.

The Little Goslings Centre, based at the refurbished old library in North Street, is a one-stop shop for parents eager for advice during those important first few years. Its aim is to help all families with children under the age of five by offering help and support to young parents, lone parent families, and families that feel isolated.

The Dunmow Flitch Friendship Club is a social evening for over 55’s with the chance to meet friends, listen and dance to music, play bingo and other enjoyable games – all with tea and biscuits. They meet on the second Tuesday of each month from 6-9pm at Foakes Hall. There is an annual membership fee of 10. For details contact the chairman, Peter Toms, on 07966 884852.
