A radio enthusiast and possible reporter-in-the-making had a dream start to his 10th birthday when he was invited to be a guest editor and producer for the BBC.
Wilson Davies, 10, from Great Dunmow, took over the BBC Three Counties Breakfast Show with Iain Lee for a whole hour on Thursday, October 22, hosting his very own call-in.
The St Mary’s Primary School pupil arrived at the studio at 7am to be shown the ropes by presenter Iain and producers Catherine Boyle and Kelly Betts – before taking the helm with the topics ‘what have you ever thrown out of a window?’ and ‘what have you found on the floor?’
Lots of members of the public called in, and Wilson’s turn in the top chair received very positive feedback, with listeners on Twitter saying it was hard to believe he was so young.
Wilson said: “I love radio because it’s fun to listen to, and I learn from radio as it’s so informative.
“The idea of being able to talk for a living and to share my thoughts appeals to me.
“I enjoy listening to the radio and listen as much as I can, even at night time I listen to podcasts.”
Wilson’s mum Liza, 42 – who shares the same birthday as her son – says she was over the moon to see him have such a fantastic start to his birthday.
“Wilson had the time of his life – what a way to start your 10th
birthday,” she said.
“It was once in a life time
experience one to remember. Wilson got some fantastic feedback on Twitter too.”
She added: “We are extremely proud of him; he’s a very smart, confident, polite little man.”
