Cakes and coffee helped to raise £1,000 for Farleigh Hospice in Chelmsford.

Dunmow Bowling Club handed over a cheque on Thursday, November 19, after a successful coffee morning at the club’s St Edmunds Lane clubhouse.

Jewellery and books helped to boost takings along with bowling events throughout the season.

Members have donated similar amounts over the past two years to Breast Cancer UK and Prostrate Cancer UK.

Secretary Linda White said: “The club chooses charities that have a direct personal relationship to the membership. We are now choosing our good cause for next year.”
