A driver caught speeding through Takeley has been fined £1,600.
Officers snared the driver in June last year but the motorist didn’t respond to the initial speeding ticket or later notices of intended prosecution, as well as failing to tell the DVLA of a change of name.
The driver was handed the find and given six points on their licence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court last week.
Adam Pipe, Casualty Reduction Manager at Essex Police, said: “I hope this court result serves as a strong reminder to registered keepers of vehicles that they cannot simply ignore these notices. We take speeding and other offences committed on the roads of Essex seriously and will take positive action against those who refuse to accept responsibility.
“Motorists have a legal obligation to inform the DVLA if they change their name or address, develop a medical condition or sell or make alterations to their vehicle.”
