DEER are the latest residents to move into a housing development in the Takeley.

But far from shoo them away, the developers have actually learned to work around them.

The Hornbeams development, on Priors Green, is now home to a herd of deer that are thought to be following a stag living in an adjacent field.

David Wilson Homes who are currently selling and building houses on the site have enlisted the help of a professional dear stalker to monitor and look after the heard, and the deer are expected to move back towards their home in Hatfield Forest this week. Staff and guests at the developer's show home have donated a total of £500 to the British Deer Society to help with the care and protection of the native animals.

David Kenyon, Director of the British Deer Society said: "We would like to say a big thank you to David Wilson Homes for their generous donation, and its sympathetic and environmentally aware response to the deer at the development.
