ONE Takeley based property development company has took the lead on St George's day by giving its entire staff the day off.

Employees at Weston Homes, on Parsonage Road, were given an extra public holiday by bosses in a patriotic move.

Company spokesman and employee Gareth Jones explains: "We wanted to make a point that St George's day should be a public holiday across the country so our chairman Bob Weston kindly gave us an extra day's holiday and we wrote to all of our partners with our intentions. We hope that the government would take notice and follow suit."

The company offices proudly has a St George's flag waving outside, and Mr Jones chose to use his day off for a round of golf with friends.
