THE Conservative's Sir Alan Haselhurst scored his ninth general election victory in a row as he emerged the winner once again of the Saffron Walden constituency.

The Liberal Democrat's Peter Wilcock finished second with 14,930 votes.

Labour candidate Barbara Light was a long way behind in third (5288 votes), followed by UKIP, BNP and the Green Party candidates.

Sir Alan Haselhurst (Conservative) - 30,155

Peter Wilcock (Liberal Democrats) - 14,930

Barbara Light (Labour) - 5288

Chrisse Mitchell (BNP) - 1050

Roger Lord (UKIP) - 2228

The turn out was 71.7 per cent which represents an increase of 3.4 per cent from 2005, although that is somewhat skewed by a boundary change which significantly increased the size of the constituency.
