PEOPLE in the Dunmow Broadcast area who have given something extra to their communities are being honoured at an awards ceremony.
On September 6, Uttlesford District Council is presenting community achievement awards to people who have been involved in projects including setting up and running Scout and Brownie packs, launching a village youth football club and raising thousands of pounds towards community buildings and local charities.
After carefully considering all nominations, the council is pleased to announce the following people as winners of community achievement awards. Each individual will be presented with their award at the ceremony.
Service to Children and Young People:
Tom and Margaret Gibson, Hatfield Broad Oak
Sharon Sellens, Barnston
Julie O’Brien, Little Hallingbury
Sue Sarjeant, Barnston
David Robarts, Little Hallingbury
Service to the Local Community:
Peter and Margaret Lines, Hatfield Heath
Ken and Gay Essex, Leaden Roding
Service to the Elderly:
Susanne King, Margaret Roding
Chairman of the council Sue Schneider will present each of the recipients with a commemorative framed certificate.
Cllr Schneider said: “All of these people have made a real difference in their communities and they should receive recognition for that.
“The community achievement awards are one way of giving these fantastic people the credit they deserve – it will be an honour to meet and present each of them with a special certificate.
“As well as providing them with recognition, these awards are also a way of thanking these individuals for the contributions they’ve made to their communities; not just from the council, but from the many people who’ve benefited from their efforts.”
