FOOTBALL club members that have acquired their own ground for the very first time are progressing fast with developing pitches and pavilions ahead of the new season.
After moving into their new home at Laundry Lane, Little Easton, in March, members and supporters of Dunmow United FC have been fixing up the ground's facilities in a bid to be ready for the 2009/10 season which will bring renewed optimism to the growing club.
Club chairman Andrew Askew said: "We will be the only local club offering a ground solely for the use of junior football. It will be used for the first time on June 20 when we will be holding trials for prospective new players. Next season we are running 10 teams, in age groups ranging from under 8s through to under 13s.
"The current pavilion is being totally renovated with a new kitchen and refurbished changing rooms and for the first time it will have mains running water. It is an excellent step forward in the expansion of the football club."
Dunmow United agreed a three-year lease with Great Easton Parish Council at the start of the year.
Mr Askew said that the club wants to continue to grow, but in order to do so it needs a host of sponsors to help pay for kits and further renovation of the ground.
"We are on the hunt for benefactors who can help in any way in funding this great development and are also looking for shirt sponsors for three of the ten teams for next season," added Mr Askew.
