Father Gordon Godfrey, the parish priest of Our Lady and St Anne Line, celebrated the golden jubilee of his ordination to the priesthood on July 1. The actual celebration took place on July 5 when he celebrated mass with Bishop Thomas McMahon of Brentwood and Bishop James O'Brien, Retired Auxiliary Bishop of Westminster, together with friends and parishioners. Fr Gordon studied for priesthood at the Seminary of Saint Sulpice in Paris. During his ministry, he has been secretary to Bishop Patrick Wall, a past Bishop of Brentwood Diocese, in which the parish lies, Assistant Chaplain at the Apostleship of the Sea, and Chaplain to the High Sheriff of Essex, Evellyn Ward-Thomas, as well as Parish Priest at Canvey Island, Hutton and Shenfield, Rochford and latterly Dunmow.
