THE ginger factor paid dividends for a village primary school as over 2,000 was raised at a fete on Saturday.

BBC Radio Two presenter Chris Evans dropped into Stebbing Primary to help raise cash for activities and improving facilities at the school.

Hundreds of people showed up and school administrator Clare Moreton said: “It was so busy all day. It was a great success. Chris was fabulous. He signed lots of autographs and posed for lots of photos. The rain stayed away for us – so far we have counted just over 2000 in takings.”
