GREAT Easton and Lindsell Ivy Club is sure this year's Christmas dinner will be a cracker thanks to a £200 grant from Dunmow Round Table.

Members of The Ivy Club gathered at Great Easton Village Hall to see Tablers Tom Notley and Rob Boulton hand over a cheque to secretary Doreen Hart.

"I am absolutely delighted to be able to receive this cheque," said Mrs Hart. "It will go towards our club's Christmas dinner, which will now have all the trimmings."

The money was donated through Dunmow Round Table's Cash for Causes scheme after Mrs Hart read about it in the Dunmow Broadcast.

"I saw the article in the Broadcast about the Round Table having some funds to give to local clubs," explained Mrs Hart. "I sent off an e-mail pretty quick and the next evening received confirmation that we would receive £200."

The Ivy Club is for people over 60 years of age and organises mystery coach tips, musical evenings and other social events.

Annual membership costs £3. To join call Doreen Hart on 01371 870830.
