CALLING all Snellings. A woman from Somerset has contacted the Dunmow Broadcast asking for our assistance in helping her trace some long-lost relatives.
Joyce Dowds (nee Snelling) from Bridgwater said: "I've been searching for my two 'Snelling' second cousins for a few years, without success and the trail is running cold.
"I wonder if any of your readers can help me find them; please!"
She is searching for the two sons of late cousin Alan Snelling, a keen swimmer and cricketer, and grandsons of her late uncle Oswald 'Horace' Snelling.
She knows that her Uncle Olly worked, in his later years, in the accounts department at the Dunmow Bacon Company, where he was known by his colleagues as 'Horace'.
She has managed to find out that Uncle Olly grew frail, entered a nursing home where he died in his nineties.
Mrs Dowds lost touch
with her family after she moved to South Africa and her cousin Alan moved when he got married.
If you are a Snelling, or think you know any of these people and can help Mrs Dowds trace her family tree, please contact the Dunmow Broadcast by calling 01371 874537 or by speaking to reporter Michael Boyton at our office at 1 Angel Lane, Great Dunmow and we will pass your contact details on to Mrs Dowd.
