STAFF at the Dunmow Broadcast office were left gobsmacked on Thursday morning, after finding only a handful of papers left from their usual delivery.
Thieves had stolen the papers from the office on Angel Lane and strewn them across town, mainly in the High Fields area.
Several residents came into the office first thing to complain about the situation. Receptionist Joy Goodyear said: "It was not the best thing to arrive to on a Thursday morning. I cannot believe that people would make the effort to carry them that far and then throw them everywhere."
In a joint effort, the staff went around the town to clean up all the papers they could find. Reporter Nick Thompson thanked the residents of High Fields for notifying them of the problem and for helping to tidy up.
