SISTERS battling for first prize in a flower arranging provided one of the many highlights at the Dunmow Horticultural Society spring show.
Deborah Farthing managed to beat her sister Glynis Smith to lift the Lidbury Cup after her arrangement featuring growing plants and fresh cut flowers was judged best exhibit in section.
Elsewhere, a unanimous decision resulted in David Perry taking home the top prize for the best exhibit with his unusual sundew plant.
In the men's cooking section, past winner Mike Porter confirmed his ability in the kitchen to win again.
Show spokesman, David Beedle, said: "With the winter being more normal this year, we had a very good exhibit of daffodils.
"The number entries were approximately the same as at the last show with 260 exhibits from 34 entrants."

Presidents Cup (most points, flowers) - Glynis Smith;
Lidbury Cup (most points, flower arranging) - Deborah Farthing;
Dixon Shield (best exhibit, flower arranging) - Deborah Farthing;
Susan Noon Novice Cup (daffodils) - Rebecca King;
Stevenson Cup (most points, domestic) - Emma Firmin
Mike Elsdon Cup (men's cookery) - Mike Porter
Millenium Shield (most points, handicraft) - Deborah Farthing
G Perry Shield (photography) - Mike Barnard
Neate Shield (best exhibit in show) - David Perry
Children's Girls section - Hannah Perry
Children's boys section - Daniel Perry and Thomas Carden
