WHAT started as a letter to The Broadcast about litter at The Dunmow Cutting led to an organised litter pick in the woods on Sunday.
Emma Whittle, of High Meadow, wrote in exclaiming her shock at the amount of litter, that blighted the popular beauty spot.
She said: "My family and I come here nearly every day and I was terrified that one of my girls would jump off a tree and end up with a broken bottle through a foot."
After the letter was published several people contacted us saying they wanted to join Mrs Whittle in her suggested litter pick.
Linda Pannell, a retired head teacher from Parsonage Downs, was one of the people who donned their gloves on Sunday.
"I used to come down here with my boys when they were young," she said. "It's a shame that people have left the woods in such a state. I'm just pleased that I could come and help out with this."
