PARENTS joined children in the classroom during an open day on Saturday morning.

The Helena Romanes School in Parsonage Downs, Dunmow, threw open its doors for a year six open morning from 9.30am to 1pm.

Nearly 300 families, approximately 750 people, came through the school gates. Various activities were put on and headteacher Simon Knight gave presentations outlining his vision for the school.

Mr Knight said: "The day was very successful. It was great to see so many visitors, students and staff making the most of the day. We had many positive comments from parents and students alike - and the weather was fantastic."

The day followed the launch of the school's new Specialist Humanities College status which was celebrated by students on Friday.
