Mayor of Great Dunmow Cllr Alex Armstrong met RAF Air Cadets and learnt more about their activities at an open evening.

Potential new cadets visited the Dunmow 999 Squadron and were greeted by current cadets, who had spent all week preparing displays about the activities they offer.

Mayor Cllr Armstrong also drew tickets for the cadets' grand draw.

The cadets are based at Drill Hall, High Street, Dunmow and meet on Monday and Thursday evenings.

Royal Air Cadets take part in activities across categories including air, space, cyber, adventure training, military and other skills such as first aid, radio communications and drill and ceremonial marching.

They are also one of the largest UK providers of the Duke of Edinburgh's Awards Scheme.
