Air Scouts from Carver Barracks in Thaxted are celebrating after being awarded RAF accreditation.

Over the past four years, the scouts - who are part of the 1st Thaxted - Carver Scout Group - have been preparing to demonstrate their skills at an RAF inspection.

Wing Commander David Hales visited the troop and saw the scouts display their first aid skills and learn about aeronautical engineering, the history of flight and practical principles of flight activity.

The scouts passed the assessment, becoming one of only 30 troops across the UK to receive the accreditation.

They can now wear a special badge on their uniform and enjoy a range of benefits, such as flights in service aircraft and trips to RAF facilities.
