Dunmow pupils celebrate Red Nose Day and Science Week

Last week pupils took part in science-related activities, led by the school's science leads Sam Hill and Ellis Craig.

The teachers said: "We started with a whole school assembly to introduce the theme of 'time' and showcased a selection of experiments to excite the children and get them ready for the week.

"Following that, teachers put on a science carousel across two afternoons where children got to experience a variety of experiments and investigations with having the excitement of a new teacher for each session.

"The aim was to promote a love of learning and fun within science, and I think we can safely say, with the buzz around the school, that this was achieved."

On Friday, March 15 the whole school celebrated Red Nose Day, dressing up in red outfits and crazy clothes to mark the occasion.

In the afternoon, pupils took part in staff challenges including 'Pin the red nose on Mr Watts' - featuring headteacher Kevin Watts - and the edible lace challenge, in which the loser in each round faced the dreaded 'chair of doom', where they would get mysterious gunge or slime poured over them.

The school raised more than £300 for Comic Relief.
