A 42-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman have been arrested in Great Dunmow on suspicion of money laundering.

The man, 42, was also arrested on suspicion of theft, and both have been released on police bail until May 25.

Essex Police's Rural Engagement Team made the arrests on Wednesday, March 13, working alongside the National Construction and Agriculture Theft Team (NCATT) and the National Rural Crime Unit (NRCU).

During a subsequent search of a house in Dunmow, police seized approximately £100,000 in cash, computers, electronic devices, designer jewellery and around 100 vehicle identification number (VIN) plates.

Inspector Terry Jacobs, of the Rural Engagement Team, said: "We work closely with our partners in National Rural Crime Unit to investigate cases involving the theft of agricultural and construction equipment and machinery.

"The impact of such crimes on rural businesses and communities cannot be underestimated."

The police investigation continues.
