London Stansted had a record-breaking January, with 1.95 million passengers checking in to the airport - a 6.9 per cent increase on last year.

This beats the previous high of 1.93 million, set in January 2019.

Annual passenger numbers also increased by 14.8 per cent, reaching 28.1 million.

Spain, Italy and Poland were the most popular destinations, and Dublin, Istanbul and Edinburgh the busiest routes.

"We welcomed more passengers in a January than ever before at London Stansted, and coming hot on the heels of a record-breaking December.
