Fundraisers from Felsted School will don their Santa costumes for Farleigh Hospice's festive family fun run.

The event will take place in Chelmsford's Central Park on Sunday, December 3, with hundreds of Santas tackling a 5km course to raise money.

Manor House at Felsted School has been supporting Farleigh Hospice for many years.

A large team of more than 30 people from the school - including students, their families and staff - will assemble at the start line in their Santa suits.

Manor House mistress Carolyn Phillips said: "Manor House, Felsted School, are proud to have Farleigh Hospice as their primary charity for the best part of 15 years now.

"Over the years the house has raised money in many ways including fun runs, sweet stalls, cook books and much more.

"We suspect we have raised in the region of £60,000 during this time for this very deserving cause.

"The house looks forward to the Santa Run event taking place on December 3 and many of the girls and staff will be taking part."

Open to everyone, the course is designed to be accessible to people using wheelchairs or pushchairs, with participants invited to run, jog or propel themselves around.

The cost of entry includes a free Santa suit for adults and a hat for children, or participants are welcome to wear their own costume.

Discounted tickets are available until November 19 from www.farleighhospice.org/santa.

Well-behaved dogs on leads are also welcome, with a prize for the one wearing the best Christmas outfit.

Santa's sign in at 9.30am, with the fun run beginning at 10.45am.

Last year, 400 Santas of all ages signed up to the run, which raises money to help the charity provide hospice care to people affected by life-limiting illnesses and bereavement across mid-Essex.

Debbie de Boltz, Farleigh's fundraising manager, said: "Santa Fun Run is a really joyful event – it’s impossible not to feel festive when you see a sea of Santas racing round the park!

"Thank you to Manor House at Felsted School and all of the other Santas who have signed up so far and are collecting sponsor money."
