Great Dunmow Big Voices Community Choir hosted a 'Summer Celebration of Song' to raise money for charity.

The concert took place on Saturday, June 10 - the hottest day of the year so far - at St Mary's Church in Dunmow.

The chuch was full and audience members of all ages gathered to enjoy the celebration of singing, while fundraising for good causes.

Proceeds from the concert, which have exceeded £1,500, will go towards Alzheimer's Research and St Mary's Church.

Jane Prowse, from the Big Voices Choir, said the concert was "a wonderful reflection of the hard work and generosity of both the performers and the audience".

Big Voices also welcomed Braintree Male Voice Choir, under the direction of professional musician Thomas Duchan.

Classical soprano Nancy May wowed audiences with her voice, with one younger girl during the interval commenting that she "looks like a Disney Princess".

The choir thanked Nancy May for giving her time so generously.

Great Dunmow Primary School Choir, led by their teacher Kristian Parkes, performed a rendition of 'Believe' and a medley of songs from the hit musical Matilda.

Big Voices praised the pupils for their singing and acting skills, as well as their exemplary behaviour throughout the afternoon.

Finally the Big Voices Choir, led by Jane Prowse and Jerome Cacace, demonstrated their increasing vocal repertoire and musical ability, even though the choir has only been singing in its current format for 10 months.
