The Dunmow Theatre Company is putting on a performance of Legally Blonde, The Musical this Easter, based on the hit 2001 film starring Reese Witherspoon.

Legally Blonde explores the transformation of Elle Woods - a lovestruck sorority sister who becomes a lawyer once she follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School.

As the school year unfolds, Elle discovers that she's smarter than she thought, and with her ensemble of unique friends proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.

The feel-good musical is full of songs performed by the cast, alongside a live nine-piece band.

Music and lyrics are by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin, with the script written by Heather Hach.

The Dunmow Theatre Company - previously known as Dunmow Players - turns 102 years old this year.

A spokesperson for the theatre compnay said: "We have been bringing together local talent and likeminded people in an inclusive and passionate environment to bring large scale and affordable theatre to Dunmow and the surrounding areas.

"Just like you, we have all found our way here out of a longing, whether that is to perform, to be a part of something creative or even just to learn to express ourselves to become more confident and widen our skills in performing arts.

"As a company, we support and encourage people of all ages who have an interest in the arts and theatre, whether on or off stage everyone is welcome."
