LADIES who do lunch raised almost 1000 for their chosen charities.
The Dunmow Inner Wheel group invited 70 guests to the Dunmow Day Centre on Chequers Lane and tucked into homemade lasagne.
Organiser Sheila Lipson said: "It was a really good afternoon and great to see so many people there. We held a raffle with expensive prizes and a bring-and-buy stall.
"We were all delighted with the amount of money we managed to raise."
Inner Wheel president Jane Askew will present the money to the East Anglia Hospice and St Clare Hospice in the next few weeks.
