An expert on dog training gave an “entertaining and informative” talk to the Dunmow University of the Third Age at their last meeting.
Malcolm Wells is from Canine Partners – a charity that trains assistance dogs for disabled people.
He spoke about how dogs are partnered with humans to help with their daily lives, for example get the person dressed, take them out to the shops, and do their washing.
The dogs give both physical and emotional support to people whose lives are very difficult.

Jenny Versey, at that talk, said: “It was a very funny talk in a way. He made us all laugh the way he described everything.
“He also described how the dogs choose their partner humans, not the other way round, and how this is a key to a successful relationship.
“The dogs are trained to respond to clicks and rewards and it all sounded very complicated.”
The next talk will be taken by Alan Goldsmith on January 25, at 2pm at ET Foakes Memorial Hall in Stortford Road. It will be about 50 years of Rock and Roll.
