TRAFFIC chaos ensued on the M11 this morning after a lorry shed part of its load of 300 beer barrels.

The HGV turned on its side on the southbound carriageway between junctions 9 and 8 close to Stansted Airport, shortly before 5am.

The barrels were subsequently strewn across the carriageway and one lane was closed to traffic while the highways agency held a clean-up operation.

Fire crews from Stansted, Saffron Walden, Newport and Harlow were called to the scene. No one was trapped and firefighters made the vehicle safe by 5.30am.
