MILLIONS are expected to break free and stop smoking next week (Wednesday March 10).

In its 27th year, No Smoking Day is encouraging smokers to break free from their habit and escape the chains of addiction.

Thousands of No Smoking Day events are taking place all over the UK.

There will be an ashtray amnesty, customised Double-Decker Buses, interactive stalls and dance displays.

Many sports activities including local football and rugby clubs will also be getting involved.

Stop smoking services, fire and rescue services, supermarkets, and many more are out and about to help and support smokers who are ready to take the first step!

Organisers in west Essex have got some fantastic events planned for No Smoking Day.

NHS West Essex invites all smokers who are ready to break free to attend their event in ASDA at the Water Gardens, Harlow. West Essex Healthy Living Team will be available for smokers between 10am and 3pm.

Anyone who wants to stop smoking or would like some information on a Healthier Lifestyle can pay them a visit and you may be in with a chance of winning a prize!

Smokers in west Essex already have access to world class help and support from the Healthy Living Team. The free help provided by local stop smoking support services can improve the chance of stopping successfully by up to four times compared to doing it on your own.

Health Improvement Specialist with NHS West Essex, Louise Savory, said: "17.7 per cent of adults (aged 16+) in west Essex smoke and research has shown that just under two thirds of them would like to stop.

"No Smoking Day provides an excellent opportunity for them to do that. By using the support available on No Smoking Day and throughout the year you can significantly increase your chance of success."
