A NEW health walk is being set up in Clavering.

It is part of Uttlesford District Council’s successful series of Health Walks which already run in Stansted, Saffron Walden, Thaxted, Newport, Dunmow, Little Hallingbury, Hatfield Heath and Hatfield Forest.

The sessions are part of the government’s Walk 4 Life scheme which runs all over the country. The walks are free to attend and you don’t need to book – just show up.

All you’ll need are a pair of sturdy walking shoes or boots and appropriate clothing for the weather. A bottle of water is a good idea. No dogs are allowed.

The Clavering walks will be led by one of the district council’s volunteer walk leaders and are aimed at residents who have a reasonable level of fitness already.

The Clavering programme will run through the summer from now until September, and will leave every Wednesday at 6.30pm prompt from the village hall car park. Each walk will last about 90mins and cover four to five miles at a moderate to fast pace.

This walk is a great opportunity for moderately fit people who:

• Enjoy getting outside

• Want to improve fitness

• Want to lose a bit of weight

• Are interested in meeting new friends

If you’d like to come along, and haven’t been on one of these walks before, turn up early because you’ll need to fill out a health form before you can be accepted on the walk.
